Wednesday 30th October

Free tour of Questors Theatre, Ealing. A ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the Questors Theatre in Ealing, starting at 8.00pm.   We will probably drive there.   Maximum 12 people.

 

Thursday 14th November

Telephone Treasure Trail.  NWR’s popular annual telephone treasure trail.   Come along and help solve the clues.

 

Tuesday 26th November

AI (Artificial Intelligence).  Can you tell if what you are reading has been AI generated ?

Discuss the pros and cons of AI.   Enlighten ourselves to its potential usages.

 

Monday 9th December starting at 7.00pm

NWR Christmas party.  An evening of Secret Santa, food, drinks and games to begin the Christmas celebrations.   Everyone will be invited to bring a contribution to the buffet.   Ideas for games will be most welcome.

 

Friday 20th December in the morning at 10.00am

Coffee morning with games.  Come and join in the games morning to get you into the spirit of the season.

 

Thursday 9th January

Furniture designers.  Research a furniture designer and let us know more about them.  Pictures of their important pieces would be useful.   We could make a collage of them to send to NWR.

 

Wednesday 22nd January – 10.30am

Kennel Club – Art display.  Visit the Kennel Club’s Art display in Mayfair for coffee / tea / biscuits and guided tour.    All-inclusive cost approximately £12.    Starts at 10.30am with coffee etc.

‘New Year’s’ meal.  At the Northwood Piazza.    Date to be decided via a Doodlepoll to agree the most popular date and time.

  

Thursday 20th February

Space - The Final Frontier.  Research a topic & briefly speak about it.  For example: Solar flares & sunspots; my favourite constellation; what can the Moon offer us?; how did it all begin?; Dark Sky Parks; Terraforming; astronomers called Brian; any other astronomical topic of your choice.

 

Monday 24th February

Mocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.  Bring along your favourite non-alcoholic tipple to share (little amounts) with the group.   We will choose the most popular one.   The drinks could be shop-bought or your own concoction.  

 

Tuesday 11th March

Speaker event.  'Women in Intelligence', with Dr Helen Fry.  Back by popular demand, historian and biographer Helen Fry is the author of The London Cage, The Walls Have Ears, MI9 and more than twenty books on intelligence, prisoners of war, and the social history of World War II. She appears regularly in media interviews and podcasts and has been involved in numerous documentaries.   Visitors welcome.  £5 to include delicious homemade refreshments.  

  

Monday 24th March

Planning meeting.  Bring along your ideas to help the next two planners with their work.   If time permits, then we will talk about which of your New Year’s resolutions worked and which failed.

 

Wednesday 9th April

Channel Islands.  The Channel Islands is NWR Head Office’s country topic for 2025.  Research an aspect of life / history of the Channel Islands and share it with the group.

 

Thursday 24th April

Reflexology talk / demonstration (on a willing participant). 

 

Tuesday 6th May

What would your ideal / dream career have been?  Share your secret (or not so secret) passions of your dream job.  Perhaps your actual job was your dream one – if so, then what did you like about it.

 

Note that all evening meetings will start at 8pm unless otherwise stated.
